Building Connections

 Team Building Guidelines 2025

Purpose of Team Building:

The purpose of team building initiatives are to strengthen collaboration, improve communication, and foster a positive work culture within LCL. By engaging in activities that encourage teamwork and trust, we aim to boost employee morale, enhance interdepartmental relations, and promote a supportive work environment.

The activities will also help employees develop problem-solving, leadership, and interpersonal skills that are essential for both individual and organisational success.

Guidelines for Team Building:

  1. Inclusivity: All employees are encouraged to participate. The initiative will involve cross-departmental collaboration, promoting an opportunity for employees to work with colleagues they may not interact with on a daily basis.
  2. Teamwork: Activities should encourage cooperation, problem-solving, and shared goals. Teams will be formed from a mix of departments to foster better cross-functional understanding.
  3. Participation: Employees must actively engage in all scheduled activities. Full participation ensures maximum benefit from the team-building exercises.
  4. Variety of Activities: The initiative will feature a combination of outdoor, indoor, and CSR-related activities to cater to various preferences and abilities.
  5. Voluntary but Encouraged: While participation in the team-building activities is not mandatory, all employees are encouraged to attend, as it is designed to foster a sense of unity and contribute to individual and collective growth.
  6. CSR Component: One of the key activities must include Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) efforts, encouraging teams to engage in community outreach, environmental sustainability, or charitable causes.

Team Building Activities:

Team Building could include, but is not limited to the following type of activities:

  1. Collaborative Problem-Solving Challenge (Indoor): A series of puzzles and strategic games that encourage creative thinking and collaboration. Teams will compete in a friendly but challenging environment.
  2. Outdoor Adventure Challenge: This could include activities such as obstacle courses, treasure hunts, or relay races that require teamwork and trust.
  3. Community Volunteer Day (CSR): Employees will have the opportunity to get involved with one of our strategic Socio-Economic Development partners. This initiative will encourage a sense of purpose and connection to the community.
  4. Initiatives for CSR Participation:

The CSR component of team building will focus on one or more of the following actions:

  • Volunteer Service: Teams will volunteer at one of our two strategic partners.
  • Charity Fundraiser: Teams will organise a fundraising event (e.g., Golf Day, silent auction, etc.) with all proceeds going to the designated charity.
  • Donation Drive: Employees will work together to collect items such as clothing, non-perishable food, or toys for one of our strategic Socio-Economic Development partners.
  • These CSR activities are designed to not only build stronger bonds among employees but also give back to the community, reinforcing the company's values, P-R-I-D-E.

Duration:

The team-building activities will take place over a one-day event (or multiple shorter sessions over the course of several days), depending on the nature of the activities planned.

Timing:

Events may be scheduled between January and September (Q1-Q3) to accommodate organisational goals and employee availability. No Team Building events may be hosted between October - December during which the Year-end function is scheduled to take place.

Teams:

Employees will be randomly selected from each department to form a colour team for the year. A team will consist of a combination of employees from various departments, thus allowing employees the opportunity to collaborate and strengthen cross departmental relationships.

Budget:

Since the teams will be more or less equal in size it will be easier to allocate an equal budget to each team. Budget still tbc.

Approval & Booking:

All team-building proposals, including specific activities and locations must be submitted to the HR Department for approval at least 2-3 weeks prior to booking your event.

Conclusion:

By combining interactive activities with meaningful CSR contributions, we aim to enhance both individual growth and company success.
