PURPOSE OF JOB

To manage and mitigate financial risks, reporting compliance and planning of annual audits. 

The Accountant will support the FM ensuring continuous improvement and alignment to the company’s financial strategy.


Strategic Financial Operations:

  • Support the FM to manage the finance strategy ensuring operational alignment with established plans and policies
  • Partake in annual budgeting process, monthly revised estimates as well as approve expenses in correlation to budget
  • Projects: Financial models, forecasting etc
  • Product Margin analysis

 

Financial management, Accounting and Reporting:

  • Monthly management packs, reporting and financial planning. (Actual and forecasting)
  • Monthly preparation and review of Balance sheet reconciliations
  • Monthly preparation and review of journals, cost analysis, monthly KPI report etc
  • Preparation / Review of drafted statutory financial statements
  • Ad hoc accounting functions to assist the FM
  • Monthly prepare, review of data for invoices
  • Monthly stock management and reconciliations

 

Risk and Control:

  • Liaison with Auditors

 

Asset management:

  • Capex applications and financial models
  • Capex accounting and tax compliance. (Accounting asset register and tax asset register)

 

Best Practise I Continuous Improvement and Communication

  • Identifying opportunities by evaluating current business trends, best practise research and principles
  • Working closely with all business units to enhance and promote positive feedback loops and improvements
  • Works closely with all managers and teams coaching and mentoring the team’s development and professional skills
  • Improve and drive cross-functional team collaboration through accurate and focused forms of communication
  • Updates job knowledge by remaining aware of new regulations, participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, maintaining personal networks, and participating in professional organizations
  • Develops organization prospects by studying economic trends and revenue opportunities; projecting acquisition and expansion prospects; analysing organization operations; identifying opportunities for improvement, cost reduction, and systems enhancement; and accumulating capital to fund expansion

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Relevant tertiary education (BCom Honours advantages) with completed SAICA, CIMA or SAIPA Articles.
  • 3 to 5 years commercial experience
  • Previous logistics industry experience will be advantageous.
  • Proficient Computer Literacy, high tech environment, especially Microsoft Office (Word, Excel)
  • Shipshape and Pastel Evolution/SAGE Intacct experience will be an advantage.
